
Stephen Leonard, PhD
Stephen Leonard is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Indiana Wesleyan University. He completed his PhD in Chemical Biology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and continued his training as a Ruth L Kirschstein post-doctoral fellow at the University of Washington. He has taught at Indiana Wesleyan University for ten years, mentoring numerous undergraduate researchers. His research lab focuses on developing selective and potent inhibitors of SHP2. As a part of two NSF S-STEM awards, Dr. Leonard has pursued science education research to understand best practices and experiences that increase student success and feelings of belonging in STEM at a rural primarily undergraduate institution.
